Songbird seems to be a mix of iTunes and Firefox. It was meant to be a software that will allow you to listen to virtually every format, MP3 or AAC or any video on song on the internet. It is part music player, part web browser but at the same time a robust music management and playback software.

Songbird seems to be a mix of iTunes and Firefox. It was meant to be a software that will allow you to listen to virtually every format, MP3 or AAC or any video on song on the internet. It is part music player, part web browser but at the same time a robust music management and playback software.

Let's see how we install the software.

Once you downloaded the application (~13MB), click run, decide which shortcut you would like and where to have them placed and in the end the path where it will be installed.

Once all this steps completed, Songbird will take its time and will install all the files required.

At the first run of the program, you will be required to get through a wizard who will give you the add-ons which you will want to have. I need to advise you that there are many more available for download and their number is growing each day. So brace yourselves.

As services, you will see Concerts as well as 7digital store.

Concerts will allow you to search for concerts that will take place that year in the city of your choosing. Sometimes you will even be surprised that some concerts are already scheduled and you had no idea.

Regarding 7digital store, well, as its description says it all, it allows you to purchase the track from Amazon, iTunes, eMusic, and Amie St. They also tell you the format of the track--MP3 or AAC, for example, and provide a blog link for more info.

If you own an Ipod, Songbird has an iPod and USB device manager which will make the app stronger. If you add a song or build a playlist, Songbird automatically syncs it to your phone or MP3 player, so you're never without your favorite music.

If you're a fan of karaoke, you will be amazed to find that once you load a song into your library or playlist, Songbird will try to load its lyrics. Check the below image for a clear example.

While Songbird is still at its beginning, it has a lot of potential. And because it's free and open-source, the community will surely come up with nice additions soon. So keep close as we will try to keep you updated.
