Fraps
Author: George Petrisor
Fraps is already an known program. Why? Because it gives you a lot of things you need without asking for much. It can take a screenshot, perform custom benchmarks and it allows you to capture audio and video up to 2560x1600.
In the old days, to capture a screenshot was using Print Screen key and Paint. Things have evolved. Nowadays, a lot of programs are on the Internet, promising lots of features to make a screen capture. But the best is Fraps.
If you are interested to use a screen capture program and you are interested in Fraps, here is a short tutorial how to install it and what it does.
First of all, Fraps is not for free. I guess everyone is looking for free things. But nowadays, nothing if free. Especially if it does it job it is meant for.
So let’s start with the installation.
Once you start to install the application, you will have to decide if you agree the license.

If not, back to square one. If you do, the next thing you will see is the destination folder where you want the software to be installed. By default is Program Files.

The shortcuts will be created

and the installation of the program last about 30 seconds

After that you will be able to start the program and to make a few settings as how you want the Fraps to do his job.
In the General options you have pretty explanatory options

In the FPS tab, all the info is related to the display of the FPS numbers that your computer is having at a certain time. You can choose the keys that will allow you to show or hide the FPS number, and also to do a little benchmark.

The next tab, Movies allows you to choose where the movies will be saved, the key that will start both the recording and ending the recording, what resolution will the movies have (full size or half size of the active window) and what fps will these have. You can opt for no cursor or no sync and also choose if you want the movie to record the sound as well as what channel will record.

The last tab, Screenshots, will give you the choice to save the screenshots in a specific folder, to choose the format of the pictures and what is the Screen Capture Key.

After all the settings have been made, the Fraps will stay quietly in the tray and each time you press one of the hotkeys, it will either do a benchmark on the FPS (frame per second), will start recording a movie with what is happening on your screen or will take screenshots.
Hoping that the tutorial was pretty explanatory, enjoy.
