'Enhance My Vista' is an easy to use yet advanced enhancing, optimizing and tweaking tool for Windows Vista.

Microsoft Vista starts to gain more and more market share; probably because today’s pre-built PC come installed with … Vista. Either you like it or not, you have no choice. More, the system was changed both visually and regarding the content.

With a clean and simple interface, 'Enhance My Vista', brings you an All-in-One set of powerful and neatly classified tools, settings and tweaks.

After launching the installer, accepting the EULA and choosing the install directory, the only thing to do is to wait for the program to install.

If you don’t have the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 installed on your computer (required for the installation) the package will install the needed libraries.

The next step is for the program to collect the data regarding your system (Windows, hardware and software) and will complete the installation.

When you will launch Enhance my Vista, you will have at your disposal four primary tabs: Tools, System, Optimizations and Customizations.

For the first tab, 'Tools', you will have a series of tools among which: a System Info, a Registry Cleaner (it can easily checks your registry and repair incorrectly linked registry entries, automatically remove invalid entries) and Registry Defragmenter (first time to see this) and a suite of HDD tools like Disk Cleaner, Disk Defragmenter and HDD Monitor (useful if you think you have problems with the HDD).

The second tab, 'System', will give you access to the core of the Windows Vista by allowing you to modify the properties of the Control Panel, System Tools and File, Network and Security Tools.

If you will browse the Optimization tab, probably the most used choice will be System Repair.

Regarding the Customization, I think only if you know what you are doing and you want to experiment you will navigate through that tab. It helps you customize system desktop, menus, toolbar and notifications settings.

Other than that, Enhance my Vista is an interesting application and will probably catch people’s eyes.

KTorrent - Kubuntu BiTorrent Client (Kubuntu)
July 10, 2008

Unlike Ubuntu which is packaged with Gnome, for the KDE desktop that comes with Kubuntu is a little bit harder to find native clients, or clients which fit good on your desktop. However, there are a couple of clients which are accesibile: KTorrent and qBittorrent. There is another client which fits with Kubuntu, but being available only as source package makes it to be appropriate for the advanced users. If you're OK with the source code compiling, then go ahead for FatRat, otherwise, stick to the already existing clients.

Using BitTorrent clients under Ubuntu - Azureus
(Ubuntu)Published: June 13, 2008

Although under Linux you won't find BitTorrent clients such as uTorrent and BitComet which are popular under Windows OS, or at least you can't run them under as native binaries, however you can find very good alternatives. Since I am going to write about Ubuntu clients, thus appropriate for the Gnome desktop environment, I am not going to mention the clients which are typical for KDE. Under Gnome there are some popular clients such as Deluge, Transmission, and Azureus. However, Deluge and Azureus have Windows builds, thus for some of you, these clients might not be a brand new thing.
